Growth Fund, Tribune Ventures, and Hughes New Ventures, where he participated in the founding investments of DIRECTV, Motient, and XM Radio. He also served as CFO of FeedBurner (Google), led business development during DIRECTV’s startup and early growth, and worked as a systems engineer at Hughes Space & Communications and Martin Marietta.

Randy holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, an MSEE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and a BSEE in Electrical Engineering with honors from the University of Florida. He received the University of Florida Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2025 and the Gator Engineering Innovation Award in 2013. Forbes has named Randy to its annual Midas List of top venture capitalists seven times, most recently in 2025. He has been recognized five times on The New York Times/CB Insights global top venture capitalists list, and Business Insider named him a top defense-tech VC in 2025. A million-mile pilot, he has traveled to six continents.
